“Over the past several semesters, we have experienced an increasing demand for classroom space across all our curricular endeavors,” Provost Francis Doyle wrote in September. This demand has “placed considerable strain on our classroom facilities,” Doyle said.
Just over half of Brown undergraduates described their courses as very difficult or somewhat difficult, The Herald’s fall 2024 poll found. But 63% of grades were an A in the last academic year.
Brown’s Open Curriculum, with 96 concentration tracks and certificates, gives students the option to study a wide variety of subjects during their time on campus. But some students opt to specialize their experience even further.
The program will stop accepting applications on March 15, 2025 pending Graduate Council approval.
It’s a seemingly age-old question: which of Brown’s general chemistry courses should first-semester pre-medical students take?
The Department of Computer Science hosted an interactive event on Thursday to reflect on and propose improvements to the department’s enrollment process, following challenges earlier in the semester.
Pre-health students at Brown rely on Health Careers Advising for everything from first semester course selection to support during the application process to medical school and other health-related programs.
Neil Stringer ’27 volunteered to usher at the Lindemann Performing Arts Center’s inaugural performance last October. He soon learned that, through ArtsCrew, he could have been paid for the job.
Undergraduate students at Brown can choose from almost 1,000 courses to create their schedules this semester. While picking the right courses can be difficult, Brown makes the whole process a bit easier by allowing students to “shop” classes during the first two weeks of each semester.
