Editors' Note: The Herald's new print design

HERALD-FILE-IMAGE

The Herald is back for a new academic semester with significant changes to our print design for the first time in four years. Over the past six months, a team of talented designers and editors have worked tirelessly to update our fonts, alter spacing and add design elements to the physical paper. These changes create a more streamlined experience for our readers and a design that reflects the youthful and innovative spirit of The Herald’s staff.

The process of updating The Herald’s print paper has reminded us of the value of consuming the news in a physical form. Every night, The Herald’s leadership team chooses how to present our content in a way that encourages our readers to pick up a paper and engage with timely, enterprising and thorough reporting. While we are grateful for the growth we have seen in our digital readership, there is something special about print, and we are proud to offer a modern version of this timeless product.

We would like to thank the talented designers who helped spearhead this project, Bilal Ismail Ahmed and Erica Silver. With their technical skills and dedication, we created a new vision for the paper that aligns with contemporary design and helps provide our community with high-quality news every day. We are proud to present an updated version of The Herald, which has served Brown and beyond for over 120 years.

We are always looking for new perspectives to continue this work of shaping our coverage. If you want to be part of The Herald’s design team, please email us at herald.design@gmail.com. No prior experience is necessary. We also welcome and look forward to your feedback. Feel free to email 129@browndailyherald.com with your thoughts.
