To the Editor:
We, the Brown Democrats, as an organization, believe in fighting to place Democrats in office and assisting them in the promotion of good, progressive policy. The most effective way to do this is to support Barack Obama both as the President of the United States and as the Leader of the Democratic Party. For these reasons, we are disappointed with Frank Caprio's recent statement that President Obama "shove it" for failing to endorse him in the Rhode Island governor's race ("Obama visits R.I. factory, thanks local workers," Oct. 26). To disrespect a President, especially from the same party, is unproductive and only serves to foster animosity in our political system. This action is against our fundamental beliefs and goals and is therefore not one we condone.
