To the editor:
In my column that appeared in Monday's sports section ("Ben Dann '12: Athlete's notebook," April 12), I included a comment questioning the sportsmanship of the Harvard men's crew team and their Head Coach Harry Parker. I apologize for those comments. I also apologize to those who have been offended. I realize that those comments were wrong. It was not my intention to disrespect those who give me the opportunity to compete, whether they are coaches, competitors, teammates, or others involved. As a varsity athlete at Brown, my words not only have consequences for me, but for my team and my school. I want to clarify that my comments do not personify the opinions of Brown Crew or the University, and that I take full responsibility for what I said.
