To the Editor:
From the article I read in The Herald ("Chomsky: U.S. policies hurt Middle East relations," April 21), it seems as if Noam Chomsky, outspoken ardent critic of Israel, was received quite well in Brown.
I want to pose the following question to Brown students: How come when Israeli Colonel Bentzi Gruber spoke on "Ethics in the Field" at Brown, he was harassed to the point where the police need to remove people and was greeted with posters accusing him of "war crimes," yet when Chomsky came to Brown and bashed Israel, even members of the pro-Israel community were able to sit and listen, and, if they disagreed, were able to remain in control and not resort to ad hominem attacks?
Just think about it.
