The African Students Association is hosting a film festival this weekend in honor of Women's History Month that will focus on women in Africa.
Four films will be screened at the festival, which opens tonight with a 6 p.m. screening of "Yesterday," which addresses the continent's devastating AIDS pandemic by telling the story of a South African woman who has the disease.
On Saturday, two films, "Sankofa" and "The Black Girl," will be screened at 2 p.m.
"Sankofa" relates the story of a model who learns about the harrowing effects of slavery on women in Ghana.
"The Black Girl" is a French film about a young Senegalese woman who, having moved to France in search of a better life, finds herself confined to grueling work.
The closing film, "Pray the Devil Back to Hell," will be screened on Sunday at 6 p.m. The documentary chronicles the grassroots activism of Liberian women during both Liberian civil wars. It will be followed by a discussion with Visiting Lecturer in Africana Studies Heidi Gengenbach.
